The FDA has given Imatron the go-ahead to market and sell its electron-beam computed tomography (EBCT) scanner for colonography, the company said last week. The 510(k) was granted for the minimally invasive procedure that permits visualization of the interior surface of the colon from a virtual "fly-through." Imatron's device is the only CT scanner specifically cleared for colonographic use. n
