Lumisys plans to create a comprehensive portal Internet site for radiologists and professionals in the medical imaging industry. Launch is expected in October.
In other news, the Sunnyvale, CA-based firm reported a 22% increase in revenue for its second quarter (end-June). Revenues were $5 million, compared with $4.1 million a year ago.
The company posted a net loss for the period of $3.8 million, which included a one-time, non-cash charge of $4 million related to the firms sale of its former Imagraph subsidiary to Foresight Imaging (PNN 7/99). Lumisys had net income of $62,000 in 1998.
Lumisys credited sales of its ACR-2000 DesktopCR system for the increase in revenues. The vendor shipped 54 units during the second quarter and 129 during the first half of the year.
