SMT Health Services enjoyed sharply higher revenues for its fiscalyear (end-December) thanks to seven new mobile MRI units placedin service during the year.

The Pittsburgh company reported 1996 year-end revenues of $19.2million, up 27% compared with sales of $15.2 million in 1995.Net income for the year was $2.4 million, compared with $1.4 millionin 1995. Net income was boosted by a $285,000 gain from a one-timetax adjustment.

SMT acquired seven new units throughout the year and now operates18 mobile MRI units. The firm has signed a purchase order forits 19th system, which it intends to put into service in April.
