X-ray and mammography vendor Gendex Medical is returning to theRSNA meeting with a more stable corporate outlook than it hadat last year's show. The company exhibited at the 1994 meetingas a vendor on the auction block after parent Dentsply Internationalsaid it was planning to sell the Franklin Park, IL, firm (SCAN10/26/94).

Dentsply in June decided to maintain ownership of Gendex andhas withdrawn its bid to divest the company, according to a Gendexspokesperson. Indeed, Dentsply has renewed its commitment to Gendexand has given it the go-ahead to hire 50 new employees in thelast several months, the spokesperson said.

Gendex's RSNA booth will be twice as large as it was last year,according to the company. Among the new products on display isa new line of generators that will mark Gendex's entry into theradiography/fluoroscopy market. Gendex will also feature fournew high-frequency radiography generators.

In mammography, the company will show a new stereotactic biopsydevice for the Mamex mammography system. It can be used for uprightand recumbent procedures.
