OEC adds to stake in Heartlab

Hoping to accelerate its entry into the cardiac imaging market, C-arm firm OEC Medical Systems has increased its investment in Heartlab, a medical imaging software developer that specializes in filmless cardiac systems. Salt Lake City-based OEC, which took an initial minority interest in Heartlab in March 1998, is integrating Heartlab’s DICOMview program into its 9800 fluoroscopic imaging system to create a fully integrated cath lab. The expanded relationship is also expected to speed deployment of Heartlab’s imaging network technology in the operating room and in mobile imaging applications. DICOMview provides diagnostic-quality review of full-motion angiograms on standard Windows 95/98/NT computers.
