The company announced Oct. 21 its first European installation of the system at the Copenhagen University Hospital in Herlev, Denmark. Unlike the U.S., Europe has been slow to accept open MR scanners. Philips executives believe experience with higher field patient-friendly systems will help allay fears that open scanners cannot deliver the diagnostic image quality European clinicians have come to expect from MR.
