Park Medical Systems this month announced the signing of an agreementwith Linc Anthem, the Chicago-based leasing firm, in which LincAnthem will buy Park gamma cameras and lease them to hospitals.In addition, the two companies are discussing a long-term arrangementthat could give peace of mind to hospitals considering the purchaseof a Park gamma camera.
Park, of Lachine, Quebec, received Food and Drug Administrationclearance last year for Isocam II, a digital-detector gamma camerawith adjustable heads (SCAN 10/12/94). Park is also marketingIsocam I, a single-head camera.
While few of Park's competitors will question the quality ofits technology, Park's small size and status as a newcomer onthe nuclear medicine scene have been used against the companywhen competing for sales, according to president and CEO RichardMullen.
To allay the fears of potential customers, Park is exploringa deal with Linc Anthem in which that company would provide service,applications support and remarketing of trade-in equipment toPark customers in the event that Park is unable to do so. A finaldeal should be completed by the end of this month, according toMullen.
Linc Anthem was formed last year as a joint venture betweenLinc Scientific Leasing and Anthem Financial to provide leasingand financial services to medical and other industries.
