Facilitating increased efficiency in radiation therapy planning, the new Rembra RT and Areta RT computed tomography platforms reportedly offer 4D CT capabilities and image reconstruction speeds up to 106 images per second.
For radiation oncologists, the debut of two new computed tomography (CT) systems and a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) platform at the American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO) 2025 Annual Meeting offer the potential for enhanced precision and efficiency for radiation therapy planning.
The Rembra RT and Areta RT CT platforms may bolster efficiency with touchscreen gantry controls and image reconstruction speeds up to 106 images per second, according to Philips, the manufacturer of the CT systems. The company says other benefits of the Rembra RT and Areta RT CT devices include next-generation 4D CT capabilities as well as an 85 cm extended field of view.

Philips will also introduce the new helium-free 1.5T BlueSeal MR RT system. In addition to including the artificial intelligence (AI)-powered scanning acceleration software SmartSpeed Precise, the 1.5T BlueSeal MR RT platform enables full MRI simulation protocols in 10 minutes, according to Philips.

Freese, M.D., a radiation oncologist at the Christ Hospital in Cincinnati. “With Rembra RT, Areta RT, and BlueSeal RT, Philips is setting new standards for precision and efficiency in radiation therapy across CT and MR.”
The Rembra RT and Areta RT CT systems are currently pending 510(k) clearance with the Food And Drug Administration (FDA).
The ASTRO 2025 Annual Meeting takes place September 27 to October 1, 2025 in San Francisco.
