Reportedly the first MRI platform with a helium-free 3T magnet, the BlueSeal Horizon device offers a variety of AI-powered features as well as enhanced 3D image reconstruction.

BlueSeal Horizon, a helium-free 3T magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) platform, will be unveiled by Philips at the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) conference.

In addition to eliminating the need for helium refills and vent pipes, the BlueSeal Horizon system provides multiple features to improve efficiency. The real-time scan preview option allows faster reconstruction of 3D images and reduction of artifacts, according to Philips.

The company said other attributes of the BlueSeal Horizon system include expanded cardiac imaging capabilities with the AI-enabled SmartPlanning feature and SmartSpeed Precise, which combines enhanced image sharpness with up to three times faster scanning.
“With BlueSeal Horizon, we’re freeing MRI from dependence on a valuable resource the world can’t replace and bringing advanced diagnostic capabilities to people previously out of reach,” said Ioannis Panagiotelis, Ph.D., the business leader for MR at Philips. “But more than that, BlueSeal Horizon is an entirely new 3.0T innovation platform that combines breakthroughs in hardware with AI-powered software, eliminating the trade-off between imaging speed and precision and improving outcomes for both practitioners and patients.”
