The North American affiliateof Dutch ultrasound vendor Pie Medical has merged with LeisegangMedical, a manufacturer and distributor of equipment for obstetriciansand gynecologists. Pie this month closed its New Jersey officeand consolidated operations with Leisegang at the latter's headquartersin Boca Raton, FL.
The two companies hope to find synergy by leveraging off eachother's strengths in offering a comprehensive equipment packageto clinics and offices. Pie president Mike Tunnicliffe will bemanager of the ultrasound division in the new company.
Pie debuted a new portable ultrasound system, Scanner 200,at the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine meeting inMarch.
