A new low-cost archive system uses removable disks to provide 2.5 terabytes online, while offering an infinite data capacity offline, according to its developer, ProStor Systems. Priced around $15,000, the new ProStor InfiniVault Model 5 has slots to accommodate five 500GB removable disks and a 1.8TB file area that can manage 250 million files. The system supports HIPAA rules for the storage of healthcare data, according to the company.
