X-ray optics manufacturer Osmic was acquired by Rigaku/USA, a manufacturer of x-ray analytical and industrial technology. Under terms of the acquisition, Osmic will join the U.S. operations of Rigaku, which include Rigaku/USA in Massachusetts and Molecular Structures in Texas.

Osmic plans to expand into medical and microlithography markets, according to Hikaru Shimura, Rigaku’s president and CEO. The acquisition by Rigaku will strengthen Osmic’s ability to bring new products to the market, said John H. Carosella, Osmic’s president and chief operating officer.
