Siemens submits digital mammography application

If all goes according to plan, Siemens Medical Solutions will soon begin marketing a full-field digital mammography system. The company announced April 7 the submission of an application to the FDA for its Mammomat NovationDR. The submission must navigate the FDA's premarket approval process, which could take several months. NovationDR features a flat-panel detector based on amorphous selenium being provided by Hologic.
