Japanese multimodality vendor Toshiba this month appointed Hiromitsu Igarashi as president of the companys U.S. operation, Toshiba America Medical Systems, of Tustin, CA. Igarashi replaces Masamichi Katsurada, who has served as president of TAMS since 1996. Katsurada has been named to the post of vice president of Toshiba Medical Systems and will return to Japan.
Igarashi brings experience in the U.S. market to his new post from his two-year stint as president of South San Francisco, CA-based Toshiba America MRI. During his time at TAMI, Igarashi oversaw the global launch of Opart, Toshibas 0.35-tesla MRI system. Some 200 Oparts have been installed worldwide (SCAN 12/18/96).
