Vital Images last week said it received 510(k) clearance fromthe Food and Drug Administration for its VoxelView 3-D workstation.VoxelView is based on a Silicon Graphics computer and employs3-D volume rendering and proprietary algorithms to give radiologistsand surgeons a noninvasive view of internal anatomy.

The Fairfield, IA, company made its first appearance at theRadiological Society of North America meeting last month, providingvisitors with virtual tours of nasal passages, colons and thecircle of Willis. Vital Images plans to market VoxelView on botha direct and indirect basis, according to Andrew Weiss, president.
