Biophan Technologies has entered into a joint development agreement with Boston Scientific to create a variety of devices that are safe and compatible with MRI. The two companies will also explore possible licensing agreements under the alliance. The joint development agreement will support R&D aimed at resolving problems caused by the interference that results from metal objects in the field-of-view of MR scanners. This interference can obscure tissue and raise safety concerns. Biophan has developed a coating technology that reduces image interference caused by metal objects. It is also developing implantable devices, such as cardiac pacemakers, that are MR-compatible.
