Franklin & Seidelmann Subspecialty Radiology has expanded its subspecialty teleradiology business model to offer final and preliminary nighttime interpretations via its acquisition of Apex Radiology of Coral Gables, FL, the company announced Oct. 23.
With the acquisition, F&S expects to have an annual case volume of more than 800,000 final reports, becoming the industry's largest teleradiology provider of final reports, as well as the largest subspecialty teleradiology provider.
F&S provides clients around the country with subspecialty radiology expertise in the areas of musculoskeletal, neuroradiology, body, cardiac, oncological, pediatric, and breast MR imaging. The Apex acquisition adds 25 radiologists to bring its total radiologist count to more than 100, the company said. F&S will now serve 250 clients.
"The decision to expand our scope of services was a natural evolution of our business and driven by our clients themselves," said F&S chairman and cofounder Dr. Frank Seidelmann. "It was a logical move to expand into nighttime coverage so that a radiology group or a hospital could experience the convenience of a full-service teleradiology provider and still receive a high level of quality for all their interpretation needs."
F&S will introduce to its existing client base a new proprietary radiology workflow technology called AccuRad, Seidelmann said. This web-based workflow portal will permit clients to manage report delivery via automated fax, online access, or encrypted e-mail. AccuRad also offers real-time report status and enables referring physicians to view reports and images.
Future enhancements will include online order entry and referral volume analytics. F&S already provides its clients with support services such as credentialing, protocol training, professional billing, and marketing.
