Instrumentarium Imaging (Hall B, #8303) has kept a lower profile than some of its mammography competitors regarding the development of digital mammography technology, but that will begin to change at this year's meeting. The Milwaukee company will display Delta16 TACT (tuned-aperture computed tomography), a work-in-progress digital system that may give the company a unique selling point.
Delta16 TACT acquires 2-D digital slices of mammography data acquired from different angles and positions, and reconstructs the data into 3-D images. Tuned aperture refers to the opening through which the breast is viewed, and tuning the aperture's size and shape determines the 3-D picture's degree of completeness.
