Lumisys lands plate supply deal with Agfa

X-ray film digitizer and computed radiography firm Lumisys has signed an agreement to distribute Agfa's phosphor imaging plates for use on the ACR-2000 low-cost CR offering.

While ACR-2000 is capable of using plates from other CR vendors, the Agfa agreement will make it easier for distributors and customers to get plates on demand, said president and CEO Philip Berman. Plates from Ridgefield Park, NJ-based Agfa will be available from Lumisys in 24 x 30-cm and 35 x 43-cm sizes.

Sales of ACR-2000 are off to a strong start. Since it begin shipping in December, Lumisys has sold 100 units, more than half of which are destined for clinical use, Berman said.

In other Lumisys news, the vendor has released version 3.1 of its DI-2000 x-ray film digitizer and CR interface software. Support for DICOM modality worklist management has been added to the Windows NT-based software, which also provides automatic DICOM 3.0 output.
