Global communications company Marconi is now listed on the NASDAQ stock exchange (MONI) in an effort to raise the firm's North American profile.

The U.K.-based firm, with some 49,000 employees worldwide, has previously been listed only on the London Exchange (also MONI). It describes itself as a company that specializes in "broadband infrastructure solutions
to telecommunications service providers and enterprises worldwide."
In the U.S., the firm's main presence is Marconi Medical Systems (formerly Picker International), headquartered in Cleveland, where it has 3500 employees.
