Siemens Healthineers Unveils Expanded Capabilities of Contrast-Enhanced Mammography System at RSNA

The addition of ClearCEM to Mammomat B.brilliant devices reportedly enhances differentiation of suspicious areas in image reconstruction and facilitates improved accuracy with tomosynthesis-guided biopsies.

For contrast-enhanced mammography (CEM), utilizing the new ClearCEM technique — recently introduced at the RSNA conference — may bolster quality in image reconstruction with the Mammomat B.brilliant platform (Siemens Healthineers) and could have utility with tomosynthesis-guided biopsy procedures.

Advanced algorithms for the ClearCEM technique offer enhanced image quality and differentiation of suspicious areas in image reconstruction with CEM, according to Siemens Healthineers, the developer of the ClearCEM technique.

When CEM findings lead to a subsequent biopsy, Siemens Healthineers said ClearCEM provides a high-depth resolution localizer image that can facilitate accuracy within 1 mm for targeting of tomosynthesis-guided biopsy procedures.

“The image quality with ClearCEM is exceptional, even in dense breast tissue. ClearCEM provides a remarkably uniform background, which significantly improves the visibility of enhancing lesions,” noted Dianne Georgian-Smith, M.D., a radiologist at Envision Healthcare in Nashville.
