Sterling Diagnostic Imaging has reached a settlement with Optical Imaging Systems that will enable the Greenville, SC-based Sterling to gain access to all of the thin-film transistor (TFT) arrays at OIS. OIS announced that it had shut its doors when its primary investor withdrew its funding (

Sterling will also receive the work-in-progress arrays at OIS, according to Sterling. The agreement assures the company of an allocated supply of iiRad systems with DirectRay into the second quarter of 1999, said Ernest Waaser, COO.
Meanwhile, Sterling is having encouraging discussions with several alternative TFT suppliers that could result in resumed production of TFT panels for Sterling by mid-1999, he said. This would result in minimal impact on supply of iiRad with DirectRay systems, he said. n
