Leading provider of nuclear pharmacy services Syncor International has acquired a privately held group of distributors of radiology and cardiology products and a provider of cardiovascular imaging services. The group of distributors comprises Multi-Medica, Medcon, and affiliated companies, which have focused primarily on markets in Belgium, Luxembourg, and France. Multi-Medica and Medcon distribute radiological film manufactured by several leading imaging supply companies, including Kodak and Konica. They recently diversified their business to include the distribution of cardiology products such as stents, dilation balloons, and valves for heart surgery. Syncor has also acquired privately held InteCardia, which provides cardiovascular imaging services. The acquisition will be immediately accretive to earnings, according to the company. Headquartered in Chapel Hill, NC, InteCardia has approximately 80 employees and last year generated $11 million.
