E-Z-EM (Westbury, NY), Vital Images, and R2 Technology demonstrated during the RSNA meeting a prototype CAD system for virtual colonoscopy. The CAD-equipped Innerview GI processes reformatted CT data, automatically segmenting and defining regions of interest that may represent colon polyps. No formal agreement yet exists among the three companies for the development of such a CAD application. The prototype demonstrates only what might yet be accomplished, according to E-Z-EM.
