Elbit shareholders approve purchase

Shareholders of Israeli technology firm Elbit last week approved

the Haifa company's acquisition of the Elscintec ultrasound business

of Elscint, an Elbit subsidiary. Elbit proposed the acquisition

late last year (SCAN 12/27/95). Elbit continues to study a plan

to spin off Elbit into three separate firms, including one that

would consolidate the healthcare operations of Elbit and Elscint.
