Emerging AI Software for CT Plaque Analysis ‘Revolutionizes’ Carotid Artery Assessment

An emerging tool for preventing and monitoring patients at risk for ischemic stroke, the recently launched PlaqueIQ™ software may enhance the evaluation of carotid artery plaque based on assessment of computed tomography (CT) images.

Providing insights into the quantification and classification of plaque morphology, the AI-powered PlaqueIQ software enables the detection of carotid artery plaques at risk for rupture, according to Elucid, the manufacturer of the PlaqueIQ software.

Emphasizing that PlaqueIQ is the only CT-based plaque analysis software indicated for the carotid vasculature, Elucid said use of the AI software can facilitate individualized treatment to help prevent ischemic stroke in high-risk patients.
