Intelect lands contract for Chinese telemedicine

Intelect Communications of Richardson, TX, announced that its video technology division, Intelect Visual Communications of New York City, has won a supply contract with Global Telecommunications Partnership Program (GTPP), a consortium of two telemedicine communication networks and a network installation company in China. GTPP has placed an initial order with IVC for $1.7 million worth of LANscape video systems, which will be shipped quarterly through 2000. GTPP plans to install LANscape in 35 hospitals and will market the product throughout China and other Pacific Rim countries.

LANscape runs on Windows 95 and NT platforms, and is compatible with PAL and NTSC video standards. IVC will combine its LANscape products with satellite communications products from Commercial Satellite Systems and telemedicine peripherals from American Medical Development, according to Keith Smith, vice president and general manager of Richardson, TX-based IVC.
