Morris Plains, NJ-based start-up LogonHealth has partnered with Sybase, one of its investors, to offer Prescription Center 1.0, software that enables physicians to send prescriptions and access reference materials and patient information via their Palm VIIs. The application is programmed using Sybase’s SQL Anywhere database package, specifically MobiLink, a synchronization technology that enables data exchange between handheld devices and enterprise servers, and UltraLite, which optimizes the database software for devices with memory constraints, such as Palm PDAs and Windows CE handheld computers. The firm developed the wireless Palm-based program to update patient records in real-time and to send prescriptions to any pharmacy. Patient data are housed on LogonHealth’s secure servers, and physicians can access the data via wireless technology directly through the application installed on their Palm VIIs or via the Internet by logging on to the browser-based application.
