Mobile PET provider Mobile PET Systems of San Diego has signed a five-year contract with Torrance Memorial Medical Center, a 380-bed facility based in Torrance, CA. The contract includes mobile services, trained technologists, and clinical support.

The deal is Mobile PET’s latest coup: In November, the company expanded its partnership with CTI PET Systems (CPS) when the two firms launched a mobile PET operation that serves European hospitals (SCAN 11/10/99). Last March, Mobile PET received a $10 million line of credit from Finova Capital, which it has used to cover the purchase of five Siemens ECAT Exact PET cameras. In February 1999, the company bought five mobile coaches from Calumet Coach of Calumet City, IL, expanding its service capability (SCAN 2/17/99 and 3/31/99). The firm went public in 1998, bolstered by a favorable reimbursement market for PET.
