The first Somatom Emotion 6 has been installed at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. The CT scanner represents the top of Siemens Medical Solutions' line of Emotion products, one of two families in the Siemens CT portfolio that offer multidetector scanning. The other family, Sensation, includes the company's flagship 16-slice system. Emotion 6 is designed as a value-oriented scanner capable of delivering most mainstream clinical capabilities associated with multidetector products. Siemens unveiled the Emotion 6 at the RSNA annual meeting in December (SCAN 12/25/02).
