HealthTrust Purchasing Group and Varian Medical Systems have renewed and expanded a three-year agreement to supply HealthTrust members with advanced systems for treating cancer with radiotherapy through the year 2003. Mid Atlantic Group Network of Shared Services (MAGNET) has also renewed a preferred pricing agreement for Varian to supply members with radiotherapy equipment. The contracts cover a range of equipment including Ximatron treatment simulators, linear accelerators, and SmartBeam IMRT (intensity-modulated radiation therapy), a highly precise radiation therapy technology.
HealthTrust is one of the nation's largest healthcare group purchasing organizations with a current membership of more than 600 facilities. Members of MAGNET, one of the oldest, largest, and most experienced shared service/GPOs in the U.S., serve over 775 hospitals and 1100 nursing homes, along with more than 5000 physicians and 1000 allied healthcare organizations in 20 states.
