A radiographic add-on to linear accelerators used in radiation oncology debuted today at the ASTRO meeting. The Theraview KV Imaging IGRT (image-guided radiation therapy) system can be mounted to any brand of accelerator, according to its distributor, Acceletronics, providing an x-ray image of the patient that can be compared to the reference image taken during treatment planning. TheraView Target Check software, built into the electronic portal device, includes automated treatment beam shape verification and patient position verification. Theraview KV Imaging IGRT is manufactured in the U.S. by Theraview Technology.
