PACS vendor Algotec has been selected by University of Virginia Health Sciences Center to provide a large-scale enterprise-wide Web-based PACS. Installation will begin in October. When completed, the system will link the radiology department on the main campus with three satellite facilities. It will utilize the hospital intranet for Web-based communications throughout the enterprise as well as for teleradiology sites and at-home reading. The 675-bed hospital has 32 staff radiologists handling more than 300,000 cases annually.
