Elbit Ultrasound announced this month that it will change its name to that of its subsidiary, Diasonics Vingmed Ultrasound. The Haifa, Israel, parent company is making the move to capitalize on Diasonics Vingmed's more recognizable brand name, according to Jacob Vortman, president and CEO of the company. Elbit in 1994 bought Diasonics, which has headquarters in Santa Clara, CA, and Horten, Norway (SCAN 7/27/94).
