BURLINGTON, Vt., Feb. 5 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- IDX Systems Corporation will showcase the mission-critical difference IDX software applications make every day by enhancing patient care and substantially improving business performance at the 2003 HIMSS (Healthcare Information Management Systems Society) tradeshow, Feb. 10-13, at the San Diego Convention Center.

"We are making a difference in healthcare every day with solutions that improve patient access, provide for safer patient care and allow patient accounting to be more streamlined," said James H. Crook, Jr., President and Chief Executive Officer of IDX. "HIMSS provides a premier platform to broaden industry awareness of the critical role IDX plays in improving the quality of patient care while simultaneously lowering the cost of that care."

The newly branded IDX portfolio of flagship offerings featured at HIMSS are: Flowcast(TM), Groupcast(TM), Carecast(TM), Imagecast(TM) and EDiX(TM). IDX will launch its new corporate brand and tagline "Making A Difference in Healthcare" at IDX Booth #2937. Each IDX solution is designed to create greater connectivity among the key stakeholders in a patient's care -- patients, providers, and payers.

Advanced IDX technology featured at HIMSS include:

IDX Flowcast is a new division name and home to IDXtend(R) and IDXtend for the Web(TM). IDXtend for the Web is a single solution for hospitals, physicians and IDN's that accelerates the revenue cycle and supports enterprise patient access. IDXtend for the Web is a proven, integrated, enterprise-wide, web-based business performance solution. IDX will also demonstrate products that ease organizational compliance with impending Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) privacy and security regulations. Also showcased in the IDX booth is Patient Online(R), a secure mechanism that enables patients to communicate with healthcare organizations via the Internet, 24 by 7, and empowers patients in management aspects of their care.

IDX Groupcast is a new division name and brand name representing the entire suite of products for mid- to larger-size group medical practices and physician service organizations including the product formerly known as Group Practice Management System (GPMS(TM)). Groupcast provides patient management, financial management, and decision support solutions. Groupcast helps group practices and physician service organizations manage their costs and enhance their patients' overall experience with best-in-class functionality, universal connectivity to other systems and patient data, and a unique, patient-centered approach to product development.

Carecast is a single platform solution that provides subsecond access to electronic patient records, and fail-safe features including computerized physician order entry, clinical documentation, pharmacy, and patient information and patient accounting management capabilities. IDX will also feature Carecast's computerized physician order entry (CPOE) applications and services at a satellite HIMSS booth (#7415) in the CPOE Product Marketplace of the Sails Pavilion. IDX's Carecast Division will reveal IT advancements including a portable health record on CD that arms patients who travel frequently, such as transient "snowbirds," with the ability to provide complete and accurate patient information at the point of care.

The 2003 show marks the second consecutive year IDX Imagecast Division will showcase its single-database enterprise Radiology Information System (RIS) and Picture Archiving and Communications System (PACS). Imagecast creates streamlined access to images and supporting patient information and provides secure online storage. Imagecast allows organizations to seamlessly transition to a digital, filmless environment, a major transformation that facilitates clinical decision-making and greatly improves the ability of diagnostic and referring physicians to provide the best possible care.

EDiX, a subsidiary of IDX and a leading provider of cost-effective, outsourced medical transcription and coding services to hospitals, clinics, physician groups and other healthcare facilities, will demonstrate its ability to provide unparalleled customer service, quality and accuracy.
