Thermal Medical Imaging has initiated clinical trials of its TMI breast imaging system at Providence Hospital in Washington, DC. Providence joins Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center and Los Angeles County Hospital as sites performing clinical trials on the system (SCAN 11/12/97).

The clinical trials are exploring the efficacy of the TMI system as an adjunct to mammography and clinical examination. The TMI system employs an infrared sensing camera to record thermal images of heat emitted from the breast. The infrared camera is provided by Computerized Thermal Imaging, which owns 80% of Ogden, UT-based TMI.
