Varian launches VIP-9 fluoroscopic detector

Varian Imaging Products has released VIP-9-QR/1, the first in a line of digital fluoroscopy imagers employing the company's amorphous silicon-based Large Area Sensing Technology (LAST). VIP-9 supports both real-time fluoroscopy and digital radiography modes, according to the Palo Alto, CA-based firm. Shipments of VIP-9 imagers to OEMs will begin in June, with the detectors carrying a list price of $98,000. The company's LAST imagers are pending U.S. Food and Drug Administration 510(k) clearance for use as medical devices.
