Acuson's Acoustic Response Technology(ART) upgrade has logged sales of $24 million since it was introducedlast year, the Mountain View, CA, company reported last month.Over 1200 ultrasound scanners have been upgraded with ART, whichuses a computer to control the shape of the ultrasound frequencyspectrum throughout the imaging chain. Acuson claims that thetechnology reduces tissue bandwidth aberrations, improving gray-scale,Doppler and color Doppler image quality. Acuson introduced ARTlast year (SCAN 5/19/93) as an upgrade to scanners in the fieldand as an option on new 128 XP 10 systems.
