Agfa Healthcare has expanded its RIS portfolio with the purchase of a minority stake in Med2Rad, an Italian medical software company. Med2Rad developed the Elefante RIS, currently installed in more than 75 Italian hospitals. The Belgian company has for several years been the exclusive marketer and vendor for Elefante in the Italian market, as part of an integrated RIS/PACS and as a stand-alone RIS. Agfa made the investment to allow greater integration between its Impax and Med2Rad's Elefante, leading eventually to a common IT platform, according to the firm.
