Imaging Diagnostic Systems of Fort Lauderdale, FL, is planning to adapt its laser-based breast screening technology to develop a scanner for the detection of colon cancer. The system will use IDSI's laser imaging technology, fiber-optic imaging techniques, and fluorescent dyes that target cancer cells to detect early-stage cancer either on the surface or within the colon wall. IDSI's CT laser mammography scanner is under development.
