Global telemedicine provider MDvista of Fremont, CA, has signed an agreement with PhilWeb.com of the Philippines to form PhilWeb-MDvista, based in Makati City. The joint venture will develop an online transnational diagnostic clinic and the first physician-oriented information portal in the Philippines and will then roll out these services throughout the Asia Pacific region. The online diagnostic clinic, which will be based in Manila, will offer on-site teleradiology services backed by image interpretations from several U.S. academic medical centers. PhilWeb-MDvista will also serve as a referral mechanism for patients in the Philippines and Asia to U.S. hospitals. Robert Ongpin, chairman of PhilWeb.com, and Dr. Antonio Chan, founder, chairman, and CEO of MDvista, will serve as co-chairs of the new company.
