A whirlwind of new deals is swirling around Marconi Medical. The company, which has agreed to be acquired by Royal Philips Electronics (SCAN 7/9/01), will sell China-based Suzhou University $3 million in advanced imaging equipment, including its Mx8000 Multislice CT, Eclipse 1.5T MRI, and Irix gamma camera. Meanwhile Marconi’s Health Care Products division has expanded its relationship with Norland Medical Systems to distribute that company’s lithotripsy system to physicians’ offices and imaging centers in the U.S. Marconi HCP also signed an exclusive distribution agreement with Shimadzu to distribute the Japanese company’s portable x-ray equipment to hospitals and imaging centers in the U.S.
