A survey of medical facilities in the U.S. has pegged Philips Medical Systems as the market leader in cardiac cath with a 40% market share and the largest installed base, according to the Dutch company. Philips is the most frequently considered manufacturer for the next cath lab imaging system purchase: 56% of surveyed sites mentioned the company, and 77% of Philips sites stated they would consider the company again for future purchases. Data were obtained by IMV Limited, an independent healthcare research company. Additionally, Philips' market share in x-ray angiography systems increased from 1998 to 2002 to give Philips the largest market share for angio systems installed in 2002.
