Case History: 82-year-old male presented with acute onset of right inguinal region mass.
Case History:Â 82-year-old male presented with acute onset of right inguinal region mass and pain and generalized abdominal pain.
Volumetric CT scan was performed following intravenous and enteral contrast administration and multiplanar reconstructions were generated.
Figure 1. Axial image demonstrates the presence of right-sided inguinal region small bowel-containing hernia medial to the right femoral artery and vein. Notice that the right femoral vein is slightly flattened when compared to the left femoral vein. Also, the hernia is lateral to the pubic tubercle.
Figure 2. Coronal reconstruction demonstrates clearly the bowel-containing femoral hernia and resultant bowel obstruction as the bowel loops proximal to the point of constriction through the hernia defect are dilated and fluid-filled.
Figure 3. Sagittal reconstruction demonstrates clearly the bowel-containing femoral hernia and resultant bowel obstruction as the bowel loops proximal to the point of constriction through the hernia defect are dilated and fluid-filled.
Figure 4. Sagittal and coronal volume rendered images reveal right femoral hernia with dilated proximal small bowel loops.
