South Shore Hospital, a 304-bed facility in South Weymouth, MA, has signed up for teleradiology and clinical image distribution from Amicas. South Shore radiologists will use the Web-based PACS to distribute, archive, and retrieve approximately 70,000 of the more than 170,000 medical studies performed annually at the facility. With the installation, 17 in-house radiologists will have access to patients' current and prior studies using the hospital's intranet and Web server. They will also be able to securely access and diagnose patient images from outside the hospital through a virtual private network.
