The Mammotome Prima™ MR Dual Vacuum-Assisted Breast Biopsy System reportedly enables larger tissue samples and facilitates more efficiency in procedure setup and cleanup with 75 percent less tubing in comparison to other systems.

Mammotome has launched the Mammotome Prima MR Dual Vacuum-Assisted Breast Biopsy System, reportedly the first MRI system designed for bedside availability during breast biopsy procedures.

Emphasizing the use of the device’s stronger vacuum and eight-gauge needle, Mammotome said the Mammotome PrimaMR platform, which will be unveiled at the European Congress of Radiology (ECR) next month, enables clinicians to obtain larger tissue samples during breast biopsy procedures.

Offering 75 percent less tubing than other breast biopsy platforms, the Mammotome PrimaMR device facilitates improved workflow efficiencies with procedure setup and cleanup, according to Mammotome.

"As the first of its kind in-room solution, the Mammotome Prima™ MR system empowers clinicians with greater efficiency and confidence, ultimately improving the patient experience,” noted Scott Tremi, the vice president and general manager of Mammotome.
